What is mental toughness?

Another way we can discuss this question is: How does a player become mentally tough? First of all we have to understand that mentally toughness is a process, and it is developed in players over the years of training. Players are not born mentally tough, they become mentally tough through hard work end endless effort with enthusiasm in developing their games. To many time we turn to sports psychologist for help, and at the end we always get more or less the same answers. Try to stay positive and work a little harder. I tell my players the same thing every day for free. If a player can get through the tough workout without complaining and whining, over time he/she will become mentally tough. Training the right way every day may seem like a tool at first, but over time it becomes normal. If players get into this kind of habit they automatically become mentally tough. Mental toughness is just a phrase used for players who work extremely hard on their skills. When you hear that player is mentally tough, what that means he probably puts a great deal of effort in developing his/her game. All of the mental toughness in the world will not help you win a tennis match if you do not have the required tools and skills to do so. If you fell like you are not mentally tough you probably are not training hard enough consistently.
